Wall Street International – respected international magazine has just published a new article about my book “Horikazu-lifework of the tattoo master from Asakusa in Tokyo”.
Such article is great confirmation that not only my book is in focus of international community, but whole Japanese tattoo scene.
To be honest, I am not that surprise because I can see great known foreign tattoo master coming to Japan to study traditional Japanese style of tattooing, Japanese culture and complex culture background of tattoo of this unique country.
Many of them came to visit and talked to living icon of Japanese tattoo master Horiyoshi III, visit his Tattoo Museum in Yokohama or join some great tattoo convention in Japan, like King of Tattoo.
Regardless of international interest about Japanese tattoo, local people and Japanese government are scarred of traditionally looked tattoo since it is still very much connected to Japanese underground world an Yakuza – Japanese mafia and discriminate those people who wear what ever kind of tattoo on their bodies.
